A vacuum pump is a device used to remove air, gas, or vapor from a sealed volume to create a vacuum. In oil processing, it’s especially crucial for oil recycling machines, transformer oil purification, vacuum distillation systems, Degassing and dehydration of oils, and vacuum packaging or drying systems. 90% Chinon Filtration machines use one or more vacuum pumps, depending on project requirements.
Applications in Oil Systems
- Vacuum distillation in waste oil recycling plants
- Dehydration of transformer or hydraulic oil
- Degassing lube oils before packaging
- Creating a vacuum in mixing/blending tanks
- Filtration enhancement in vacuum oil filters
Benefits
- Ensures higher oil purity by removing gases and moisture
- Increases efficiency of distillation and purification
- Reduces oxidation during oil processing
- Essential for high-quality recycled base oil or transformer oil
| Type | Description | Vacuum Level | Common Use |
| Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump | Oil-sealed, reliable, and compact. Most commonly used. | Medium vacuum (~1–10⁻³ mbar) | Oil recycling, transformer oil treatment |
| Roots (Booster) Vacuum Pump | Often paired with rotary vane or screw pumps to improve vacuum speed and depth. | High vacuum (~10⁻⁴ mbar) | Vacuum distillation systems |
| Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump | Uses a rotating ring of liquid to compress gas. Good for moist or contaminated gas. | Low to medium vacuum | Chemical plants, wastewater treatment |
| Screw Vacuum Pump | Dry-running, handles gas and vapor. High efficiency and no oil contamination. | High vacuum (~10⁻³ mbar) | Clean processes, oil dehydration |
| Diaphragm Vacuum Pump | Oil-free, low capacity. Used for lab or small-scale oil analysis. | Low vacuum (~50 mbar) | Laboratory oil testing |
